The Veteran-Civilian Transition

Warriors have had difficulties adjusting to civilian life for centuries.  There are things warriors see that cannot be unseen, and experience trauma than cannot be buried easily. Past experiences make us who we are, but they don’t have to control us.  Warriors exiting military service lose their daily connections to other warriors as they return to civilian life.  We don't realize how different our lives have been in the military and often experience a disassociation between military and civilian lifestyles. Civilian life seems unfamiliar and unorganized, leaving veterans frustrated and struggling to "fit in."  A simple, daily example of this is that during service, expletives and insults are common and often inappropriate to those who don’t share a dark sense of humor.  Learning which jokes and phrases are acceptable can be a trial-by-fire sort of deal.

The horse is a catalyst to heal the warrior spirit, equine therapy creates a path, and lessons in horsemanship resonate throughout our veteran-civilian transition as coping skills for our new civilian reality.

Benevolent Warrior Ranch provides a "judgement-free veteran-friendly" environment where warriors can work-through their experiences with other warriors, joke freely, and learn how to transition without collateral damage.
